Severe problems with finding parts to make these

See bottom of desciption for detail on offer incentives and future availability.
This is similar item to another of listing of mine, linked above, with one key difference.
The adapter version was never released in the USA, it is imported from Japan directly. The first thing you might be thinking is "will it work on a USA console?"
These are region-free.
That said, the same setup process is still required, regardless of what adapter you use or where it's from.
These are not and cannot be plug-and-play
. It is the basics of using a hard drive on a ps2.
Japan Imported version is 33% thinner resulting in better appearance and fits better in tight areas.
The Ethernet port on the back has 2 LEDs which do not exist on the USA version.
The LEDs on the Ethernet port indicates
**
an active connection, and if data is being communicated.
Japan Imported version lacks Dial-up, but HELLOOO? Dial-Up? don't tell me ps2 is THAT old ;)
**it is normal for the LEDs to falsely indicate an active connection at certain menu's with FMCB / FHDB on certain ps2 console models -- but returns to normal upon initiating connection in game, and otherwise has no affect.
If this particular adapter is too expensive, be sure to check the other listing -- they are lower in price, and regardless of which you choose, the rebate offer and discount options still apply.
On my primary listing (created for the standard version released in USA) there is a full description of what you can achieve with SATA upgraded adapters.
To keep this "short" I am not going to copy and paste the entire description to here. Instead the description here is primarily to highlight differences.
None of the available adapters are in really good or really bad condition. They're approximately 15 to 18 years old!
It is guaranteed that you WILL receive an adapter with one or more of the following:
Spots of rust
Sticker(s) beginning to peel
Scratches on front
Scratches on back
Signs of age
Signs of previous ownership
Different serial number
Japan versions have less reinforcement internally -- if you plan to use 3.5 inch drives, you will be fine but make sure you ALWAYS have one hand holding adapter and other hand holding drive.

SUPPLY AND AVAILABILITY
The Global Chip Shortage
has made it nearly impossible to get new supply of SATA kits at reasonable prices to make it possible to provide adapters to you like this.
When I buy in bulk I do get slightly better rates, but currently the kits would cost
70% HIGHER
to continue getting new supply, plus adapters are about
25% HIGHER
than a year ago. I increased the price by
LESS THAN that,
and so far the results are not good. As you can see people still buy these at current price, but from my end of having to invest thousands to make this possible, there isn't enough to justify continuing.
No longer offering
to ship bare kits for installation on your own.
Still offering rebate for sending me a genuine SONY adapter YOU own.
This offer will temporarily or permanently stop with little to no notice, once I reach a threshold for final inventory.
Any agreements reached before discontinuing will be honored.
The shortage of kits affects BOTH the U.S. and the Imported adapters I offer.
The final supply of kits will be reserved for the imported adapters if I have any of those left by the time the kits are running out.
I am also considering reserving some of the last kits to bundle in adapters with ps2 consoles I still have. If you are also needing a console, contact me for details on that. Some of them have LEDs installed in the vents and all of them have a new clock battery.
