  • Condition: This rare antique baby buggy is in nice condition for being roughly 100 years old. The rubber tires are all intact and the metal spoke wheels still roll fine. The metal frame and pieces remain durable and have held up well over the years but do have some surface rust present in areas. There is a brake/stop mechanism that operates but needs adjustment to actually hold the buggy in place. The body is made of wood that appears to have been repainted black sometime in the past. The back section leans back fine and has a mechanism to hold it in place. The canvas top maneuvers well but closing it all the way is a bit hard, the hinges probably need greasing. The leather and vinyl sections have some tears in a few places but are intact. The metal storage compartment underneath has a lid door that slides fine. The canvas top is a bit dirty in areas with a few stains and blemishes. Normal wear, mars and blemishes throughout from the antique age, previous use and display over the years.

    An antique baby stroller buggy, extra rare!
    Heywood-Wakefield, circa early-mid 20th century.
    This rare antique baby buggy is in nice condition for being roughly 100 years old.
    The stroller measures 44" tall, 42" long and 20" wide roughly.
    The front wheel hubs have the HW stamping and the Heywood-Wakefield trademark plate is attached to the inside of the carriage section.
    The carriage section is made of wood that has some detailing but appears to have been repainted sometime in it's past.
    The
    four
    metal spoke wheels
    with rubber tires
    roll just fine.
    A leather cross strap is attached for helping with securing.
    There is a metal storage compartment underneath that has a slide-open wood panel for extra storage.
    The two leather or vinyl covered wood interior pieces have blemishes and cracking present.
    The back covered wood interior panel is adjustable and can lay back or sit upright.
    The bottom covered wooden piece is not attached and is
    currently
    removable.
    The metal frame is intact with some surface rust present in areas.
    The canvas top can lock into place by the attached metal arms that are operable. The canvas top can be positioned in the front or back to create shade.
    The canvas top opens and closes but is a bit tough to do so, the hinges may need greasing.
    There is some staining/blemishes present on the canvas top but it remains integral overall.
    The wooden push handle is intact. There is a braking system attached that need adjustment to fully stop the wheels or lock them in place but it is functional. There are two leather filler attachment side pieces for the adjustable back section that do have holes and tearing present. The underside is missing a few nuts for the attached screws but the overall integrity of the unit remains intact and is quite sturdy for it's antique age.
    Normal wear, mars, surface rust and blemishes throughout from the age, previous use and display over the years.
    I will partially disassemble the unit to save space for delivery. This will lead to some minor assembly needed upon arrival. Due to this being an antique piece all sales are final and with no returns.
