19th c. Large Store Cigar Humidor Display Cabinet; Koehler & Hinrichs
Late 1800s, beautiful American Tobacco Cigar humidor store piece in it's dark original finish. Once used for storage and dispensing of cigars in a retail establishment.
Exceptional display cabinet. This has many uses such as a bookcase, wine cellar, cigar bar, or mercantile display or displaying your rare collectibles in your home.
Awesome piece. You won't find another with this rich patina.
The finish is shellac over oak and in very good original condition for it's age, with elaborate deep detailing around the top that looks like Ivory between cornice and window section. There are three of four diamond inserts made of mother of pearl at each upper corner. The center top shows it's original manufacturer's label. Koehler & Hinrichs. This company specialized in Factory display pieces, many store fixtures, billiards & pool accessories and much more.
Two piece cabinet with large base and upper half. Showing nine glass doors and five large separate interior sections that are lined in zinc, each upper section has two removable slatted shelves in the center. There is also a large arched display area that most likely held a cigar cutter. This measures approx. 24 5/8" W by 23.5" T.
This area would be excellent to house a piece of art or tall clock. All original brass unique hardware.
Fabulous patina. There is normal wear from age and use but to be expected. The appeal is warm and rich.
The last photo is when we brought it in and it was in need of a good cleaning. Turned out wonderful.
